I’m usually pretty busy. I like to jot down everything I have to do, be it work, side projects or college stuff. Most of the time, though, I end up either losing this lists of stuff I’ve gotta do or collecting lots of them. And worse of all, everything gets mixed: my homework between two ideas I had and all above work I have to do.
During a trip abroad I had the idea of developing a web service that let me write my to be done tasks there, and cross them out once I’ve finished them. Don’t get me wrong, I know there are thousands of other services like this, I just didn’t like them. Most of them have lots of different features I don’t care about, are very heavy (and, being on a trip on roaming data, this was very important to me) and either sell and track your information (nothing’s free!) or charge you a lot.
So, when I came back, I got down to work and developed Tasksaur, a fast, no-nonsense online to-do checklist for people who value privacy and want to get things done. Now it’s open for a free beta testing period (everyone who joins now gets three months of free membership), but my idea is to charge around two bucks per month. I would’ve paid that. It has no ads, no third-party tracking and we don’t share your data with anyone.
Tasksaur lets you create lists of to-be-done tasks and group them using tags. Want to pack for a trip? Create the tasks pack shirts and pack socks and tag them with “trip”. Need to study for an exam? Create read chapter one and read chapter two and group them under “exam” so you don’t forget to do anything. Once you complete a task, just cross it out and move on to the next one. Simple and cloud based, so you can access your checklists from anywhere and any device. It even lets you mark tasks as high, medium or low priority, sort them by priority and a few other things.
It’s very fast, and has a spare user interface, great for using it on low resource computers or on the go. It’s SSL encoded, private and safe from third-party trackers (except from Google Adsense, which we enable JUST on the homepage - and doesn’t even load if you are logged in). Database backups are run every night to keep your data secure. It lets you group tasks by certain tags, showing you only the tasks you want to see and highlight important tasks. User feedback is also heavily considered, most of the features on our roadmap having been suggested by users.
So, that’s it. I hope you can try it and like it. I’m here if you want to ask me anything or give me feedback. Thank you!
